Plants in Action
The first edition of the award-winning textbook Plants in Action written by society members was published in 1999 (Macmillan Education Australia). The “Author” is the Australian Society of Plant Scientists, the New Zealand Society of Plant Biologists, and the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Science. In September 2010, the first edition of Plants in Action will be republished as an electronic book on the server of the University of Queensland. It will be open access and downloads will be free. This new stage of the Plants in Action project is made possible by generous sponsorship of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). The next stage will be the complete revision of the book, with an expected completion date of September 2011. Click here to find out more information about this important text.

Photosynthesis in silico contains a set of interactive, multimedia modules designed to provide a new approach to university teaching of photosynthesis. Features include animations of the photosynthetic electron transport process, serving both as an introduction to experimental exercises and as stand-alone material for use in undergraduate lectures or tutorials, and simulated experimental models of photosynthetic gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence which can be used either as stand-alone packages or, where equipment is available, to supplement and enrich a laboratory demonstration/experiment. These provide students with access to the latest experimental techniques and theory, providing an experience and knowledge base which facilitates understanding of the subject in greater depth.
